AC/GC advances four acts to state speech
Thirty-eight Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center students competed in the District Large Group Speech contest at Perry high school on Saturday, January 21.
They competed in Choral Reading, Reader’s Theatre, Group Mime, Two Group Improvs, Musical Theatre, and Ensemble Acting. Four of the seven events earned Division I ratings, advancing to the State Large Group Contest on Saturday, February 4 at Valley High School in West Des Moines.
“While not everything went our way that day, I am so proud of our talented, tender-hearted, and wonderful AC/GC Speech family,” said Speech and Drama Coach Kelsey Moran. “What my students believe about themselves and the good they bring to this world will always be more important than a judge’s rating at a contest. If I have instilled this in the hearts of my kids, then I have done my job.”
