Megan Quinn Sloss

Megan Quinn Sloss, age 24, of Guthrie Center, died in an accident on Sunday, September 18, 2016.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22 from 5:30-9:00 p.m. at Guthrie Center High School with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.  A private burial is scheduled for a later date at Resurrection Cemetery in Guthrie Center.
Megan was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on February 23, 1992, to Curtis and Brenda (Tunning) Sloss. She lived in Sioux Falls and Manning, Iowa, before moving to their farm near Guthrie Center in 1997.
Megan attended Guthrie Center Schools, Central College and was currently a master’s student at the University of Iowa studying social services. Megan planned to spend her career helping children and adults in need. She was currently working at Iowa KidSight and the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Megan’s greatest love was her family. She was her mom’s best friend and her dad’s little girl. She grew up with two older brothers who at first taught her to be tough, and then protected and cherished her and she them. She loved her grandparents and cousins and grew up spending time with her extended family on camping trips, holidays and having many, many other special times. She loved children and they gravitated to her. She spent time at the University of Denver and fell in love with the mountains. She was the homecoming queen, a beautiful dancer, a teacher, a good friend to many and a lover of the little things in life. She had an uncommon devotion to God and her Church. She had a beautiful and kind spirit that touched many lives.
Megan is survived by her parents Curt and Brenda, her brothers Kyle and Spencer, her grandparents Lois and George Van Cleave, her uncles and aunts Rick and Judy Tunning, Sheyrl and Paul Clark, Mark and Gwen Tunning, Vicki and Charlie Carney, Pam Sloss, Nancy and Dale Monthei and Jason and Wendy Sloss, her cousins Meghan (Jake) Langel, Andrea (T.J.) Redfern, Tyler Tunning, Ashley Tunning, Travis Clark, Dustin Clark, Marissa, Jacob, and Madison Tunning, Jamie (Mike) Moellers, Tyler (Jessica) Carney, Brady (Jenna) Carney, Jeremy Christofferson, Blair (Erin) Carney, Emma and Nolan Monthei, Samantha and Jackson Sloss, and many other extended family and good friends.
Megan was preceded in death by her grandparents Ray Tunning , Gary and Harriett Sloss and an uncle, Johnny Tunning.
