Ashley Moody has officially started her term as Florida’s newest U.S. Senator, following the vacancy left by Marco Rubio’s appointment as Secretary of State.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Tuesday, with Vice President JD Vance overseeing the oath-taking. Moody is the second woman in Florida’s history to serve in the Senate.
Governor Ron DeSantis selected her as his top law enforcement official to fill the seat, emphasizing her readiness to collaborate with President Donald Trump on key issues such as immigration reform, reducing inflation, and federal bureaucracy overhaul.
James Uthmeier, DeSantis’ Chief of Staff, will replace Moody as Florida’s Attorney General.
