Fatal Crash in Gray County, Kansas Leaves One Dead and One Seriously Injured

A tragic crash occurred in Gray County, Kansas, on Sunday morning, resulting in one fatality and another person seriously injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that around 5:30 a.m., a 2007 Ram 3500, traveling eastbound on K144, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of K144 and U56.

The truck struck a KDOT post, crossed U56, went into the south ditch, and rolled over, ejecting both the driver and the passenger.

The driver, 22-year-old Edgar Rios-Meraz from Satanta, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 18-year-old female passenger was seriously injured and transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment.

Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
