First Female U.S. Attorney for Kansas, Kate Brubacher, Announces Resignation

KANSAS CITY, Kan. KCTV — The first female U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas, Kate E. Brubacher, has announced that she will resign from her position, with her last day set for January 19, 2025.

Brubacher, who was appointed by President Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in March 2023, made history as the first woman to serve as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the state.

She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and for the support from President Biden, Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall, as well as the dedicated professionals at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Throughout her tenure, Brubacher prioritized addressing the fentanyl epidemic and combating violent crimes, including those involving children.

She praised the hard work of career attorneys, staff, and law enforcement in Kansas, noting their commitment to public safety and the Constitution. Brubacher did not disclose her future plans following her resignation.
