Governor Patrick Morrisey Requests Major Disaster Declaration for West Virginia Flood Victims

Governor Patrick Morrisey has formally requested a Major Disaster Declaration for West Virginia in response to severe flooding that has affected several counties across the state.

After assessing the damage firsthand in southern West Virginia, the governor asked President Donald Trump to approve the declaration, which would activate federal resources to assist the hardest-hit areas.

The request includes activation of Individual Assistance IA and Public Assistance PA programs for affected counties such as Boone, Cabell, Greenbrier, Kanawha, and others.

Additionally, Morrisey has sought statewide assistance through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program HMGP to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts.

If granted, the declaration would help bring federal support to the region as it works to recover from the devastating floods.
