Governor Wes Moore recently announced the creation of the ENOUGH Alliance, a coalition aimed at tackling child poverty in Maryland.
This initiative brings together philanthropic and private sector organizations that have committed over $100 million to support the state’s ENOUGH Initiative. The goal is to invest in children, families, and communities affected by generational poverty.
The ENOUGH Act, signed into law in 2024, provides a comprehensive approach to addressing child poverty, focusing on systemic challenges and investing in families to build economic opportunities.
The coalition will help amplify these efforts by contributing funding and resources to communities with high rates of poverty. Members of the ENOUGH Alliance will either provide direct funding to nonprofit organizations or contribute to the ENOUGH Community Support Fund.
With the participation of organizations like Blue Meridian Partners, Bainum Family Foundation, and Sherman Family Foundation, the initiative aims to bring about long-lasting change for Maryland’s most vulnerable populations.
These investments will focus on improving education equity, creating pathways to opportunity, and supporting community-driven solutions.
Governor Moore emphasized that the success of the ENOUGH Initiative will depend on collaboration across various sectors, including public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic institutions.
The alliance’s efforts will complement existing state resources and work toward creating a more equitable future for Maryland’s children.
