Hawaii Governor Proclaims February 14, 2025, as One Love Day to Honor Bob Marley’s Legacy

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii Governor Josh Green has officially proclaimed February 14, 2025, as One Love Day, honoring the musical legacy of Bob Marley and celebrating Black History.

The proclamation, made on Friday, was attended by Marley’s family, including his sons Ky-Mani and Julian Marley. It recognizes the contributions of Black Americans in Hawaii and highlights Marley’s enduring message of love, unity, and peace.

“My father’s legacy is so much more than the music. It’s calling for social justice, equality, and that natural love we should share between each other,” said Ky-Mani Marley.

The announcement comes ahead of this weekend’s Hawaii Fest at Moanalua Gardens, which marks what would have been Bob Marley’s 80th birthday. The event will feature performances and tributes celebrating Marley’s life and influence.

“We are overjoyed to celebrate our father and the one love message. We’re grateful. Very grateful. Thank you very much,” said Julian Marley.

The proclamation highlights Hawaii’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the universal values that Marley’s music has inspired worldwide.
