Idaho Family s Legacy of Drug Trafficking: Efren Aviles-Pacheco Sentenced to 15 Years

The recent sentencing of Efren Alexander Aviles-Pacheco, an illegal Mexican national, has highlighted a troubling family pattern of involvement in drug trafficking in Idaho.

Efren, 29, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

His case adds to a long list of family members convicted for similar crimes, including his father, mother, uncle, grandfather, and grandmother, all sentenced in 2024.

Additionally, his sister has been indicted and faces trial in February 2025. The DEA’s investigation into Efren’s arrest revealed meth, fentanyl, cocaine, cash, and a firearm found in his possession at a hotel in Nampa in 2022. Efren’s deportation to Mexico is expected after serving his sentence.

This case underscores the ongoing challenges of illegal drug trafficking involving family networks in the region.
