Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa has ordered flags to be raised to full staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, January 22, 2024, to honor the presidential inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump.
This temporary change comes as flags were previously ordered to be flown at half-staff until January 28, in remembrance of the late President Jimmy Carter.
Governor Reynolds stated that the flag will be raised on January 22 to celebrate the historic transition of leadership in the country, with flags displayed at full staff at the Iowa State Capitol and all state buildings
. Following Monday’s observance, flags will again be lowered to half-staff from January 21 through January 28 to complete the mourning period for President Carter.
