Des Moines, Iowa — Governor Kim Reynolds is allocating $8.5 million from federal pandemic relief funds to reward teachers whose students achieve significant progress in their learning.
The funds will be used to give bonuses to the top 10% of teachers in each district whose students exceed their grade-level expectations in areas like reading and math.
School districts can apply for up to $500,000 in grant money this year and another $500,000 next school year.
Individual teachers could earn bonuses of up to $2,500 each year. Schools have until January 10th to submit their grant applications.
