Today
A clipper-like system is moving through central Iowa, delivering snow and slick roads. Light snow may also reach eastern Iowa, especially in the southwest, where roads could become slippery despite accumulations staying below an inch. The snow will taper off by mid-morning, and clouds are expected to decrease by the afternoon. High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20s, with a northwest breeze of 5 to 15 mph. Wind chills will drop into the teens.
Tonight
Partly cloudy skies are expected tonight, with lows ranging from the low to mid-teens. Winds will lighten, shifting to the west at 5 to 10 mph, resulting in wind chills that dip into the single digits at their coldest.
Tuesday
Southwest winds at 5 to 15 mph will help usher in slightly milder air, with highs reaching the upper 20s to low 30s. Skies will remain partly cloudy.
Wednesday
Tuesday night will bring milder lows in the 20s under mostly cloudy skies. By midday Wednesday, temperatures should climb to the upper 30s or low 40s. However, a strong cold front will move in, bringing powerful and gusty northwest winds that will cause temperatures to fall during the afternoon. There is a slight chance for a few stray raindrops or snowflakes as the front passes.
Rest of the Week
Bitterly cold conditions return Wednesday night into Thursday, but temperatures are expected to rebound by Friday. Both days will feature partly cloudy skies.
