The Kansas Bureau of Investigation KBI is currently looking into a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred early Sunday in Kansas City, Kansas. Brian Hilt, a 33-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, was shot and killed by Kansas City, Kansas KCK police officers during an alleged armed disturbance.
Surveillance footage showed Hilt attempting to enter an apartment building and damaging property, while armed with a firearm.
A fire alarm at the building prompted a response from the fire department, which led to police being called in.
Upon encountering Hilt in a hallway, officers opened fire after he reportedly ignored commands to drop his weapon.
Hilt was pronounced dead at the scene, and no officers were injured. The investigation is ongoing.
