Mace Pushes for Transgender Bathroom Ban at U.S. Capitol in Delaware Speech

Rep. Nancy Mace R-S.C. will address the Delaware Republican Party this week, focusing on her push for transgender bathroom bans at the U.S. Capitol and other federal properties. Mace, a prominent conservative figure, is positioning herself as a key opponent to Rep. Sarah McBride D-Del., Delaware’s first openly transgender congresswoman.

Mace’s advocacy led to a bathroom ban for transgender individuals in the House side of the Capitol complex in November, an initiative supported by House Speaker Mike Johnson R-La..

At the event in Newark, Delaware, Mace will discuss her bathroom ban proposal and her Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, among other key women’s issues, according to her spokesperson.

Meanwhile, McBride will attend a bipartisan event in Williamsburg, Virginia, to focus on solutions for her constituents.

McBride has largely refrained from directly engaging with Mace’s bathroom initiative, calling it a distraction from Republicans’ lack of solutions to pressing issues.

The local controversy surrounding Mace’s speech is amplified by a billboard in Wilmington, Delaware, placed by the ACLU of Delaware in support of McBride.

The speech highlights the growing tension over transgender rights in Congress, with both Mace and McBride taking opposing stances on these issues.
