Massachusetts Senate Delegation to Strengthen Economic Ties with Dominican Republic

State Senators from Massachusetts, led by Sen. Pavel M. Payano and Senate President Karen E. Spilka, will visit the Dominican Republic on Tuesday for a four-day trade mission. The delegation, including several other senators, aims to strengthen economic ties, with planned meetings focusing on trade, investment, and workforce development opportunities across various sectors.

One of the key areas of focus will be the new licensure pathway for internationally trained doctors to practice in Massachusetts, which was established as part of last year’s economic development package.

This initiative is expected to enhance professional integration for Dominican-trained doctors and others within the Commonwealth.

Additionally, the visit will celebrate the cultural ties between Massachusetts and the Dominican community, one of the state’s largest immigrant groups.

The senators will seek to deepen this connection and explore ways to further strengthen the partnership between Massachusetts and the Dominican Republic.

Details regarding the funding of the senators’ travel have not been disclosed.
