Matthew Lampi, a 50-year-old man from Minnesota, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for his involvement in the interstate transport of stolen human remains.
Lampi purchased the remains from Jeremy Pauley, a Pennsylvania man who was previously sentenced to probation for selling body parts stolen from Harvard Medical School.
The remains, which were unlawfully taken from a mortuary and crematorium in Little Rock, Arkansas, were sold to Pauley via Facebook by a woman. Lampi paid over $100,000 for the remains, including that of a stillborn baby.
In addition to his prison sentence, Lampi will face a $2,000 fine and restitution as part of the case, which is part of a larger investigation into the illegal trafficking of stolen human remains.
