Mega millions win: $10,000 ticket bought in perry remains unclaimed

A lucky person won $10,000 in the Mega Millions lottery with a ticket bought in Perry, Georgia, the Georgia Lottery announced on Monday.

The winning ticket for the December 20 drawing was purchased at the Circle K store on 1424 Sam Nunn Blvd. The winning numbers were announced at 11 p.m. that night.

The ticket matched four of the five winning numbers—2, 20, 51, 56, and 57—as well as the Mega Ball number, 19. The ticket also included a 2x Megaplier, doubling the prize to $10,000.

As of Monday afternoon, the winner had not claimed the prize, according to Georgia Lottery spokesperson Taryn Jacobs.

The next big Mega Millions drawing is set for Christmas Eve, with a jackpot estimated at $944 million. This makes it the seventh-largest Mega Millions prize ever.

Since Mega Millions began in 2002, there have only been 13 jackpots won in December.

Winners in Georgia have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize. Mega Millions drawings happen twice a week, with jackpots growing until someone wins.
