A team of Michigan Red Cross volunteers is heading to Southern California to assist with the aftermath of devastating wildfires.
The volunteers are focusing on emergency shelters, equipment distribution, and family reunification efforts for those affected by the fires.
In addition to those heading out, four volunteers are supporting family reunification remotely from Michigan.
More than 300 Red Cross disaster workers are aiding in the region, many of whom have been personally impacted by the fires.
The wildfires, which began in Pacific Palisades, have spread to areas like Altadena and the northern San Fernando Valley, destroying buildings and forcing evacuations.
Tragically, the fires have claimed 16 lives. The Red Cross is also seeking financial donations to support their ongoing relief efforts, with contributions accepted via their website, phone, or text.
For those wishing to help, donations can be made by visiting redcross.org or texting CAWILDFIRES to 90999.
