Minnesota Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s Legacy at 39th Annual Event

Minnesota leaders gathered at the Ordway on Monday to honor the life and legacy of civil rights pioneer Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., marking the 39th year of the state’s celebration.

The event, themed One Dream, One Minnesota, emphasized both the progress made in civil rights and the continued work necessary to fulfill Dr. King’s vision.

Ashley Oolman, Minnesota’s Chief Equity Officer, highlighted the state’s strong tradition of advocacy and policy change. St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter reminded the crowd of the ongoing efforts needed to achieve true equality.

Dr. Stacie Stanley, Superintendent of Edina Public Schools, also spoke at the event, emphasizing that Dr. King’s vision is not just part of history but an ongoing movement that continues to inspire action today.

The program, which was broadcast in multiple languages, allowed viewers to engage with the celebration online if they were unable to attend in person.
