Murder and Confession: Louisville man admits to killing woman found in Ohio river

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man faces murder charges after allegedly killing a woman and disposing of her body in the Ohio River.

The woman’s body was discovered Tuesday morning near Cox Park in Louisville.

According to Louisville Metro Police, 57-year-old Anthony Nichols shot Arica Brown in the head, resulting in her death. Authorities stated that Nichols admitted to Brown’s children that he was responsible for killing their mother after the shooting.

An arrest citation revealed police responded to a shooting at Brown’s home in Shively, but the house was cleared upon arrival. Officers interviewed both the 911 caller and Nichols. Reportedly, Nichols was heard during the 911 call confessing to shooting Brown and disposing of her body in the river. Investigators noted that flock cameras captured Nichols’ car entering and leaving Cox Park on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Following this, police executed a search warrant on Nichols’ vehicle, where suspected blood was found. Nichols was taken into custody on Wednesday.

He now faces charges of murder and violating a domestic violence order. His court appearance is set for Thursday.
