Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta is vying for a vice chair position with the Democratic National Committee DNC in the upcoming 2025 election, as announced on his website.
The election, scheduled for February 1, 2025, in National Harbor, Maryland, will determine leadership roles within the DNC, including the vice chair positions held by figures like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, and activist Henry Rueben Muñoz III.
Kenyatta, a 2012 strategic communications graduate, emphasizes his ability to build coalitions and his strong relationships with legislators, labor, and community leaders. Although he lost the Pennsylvania Auditor General election to Timothy DeFoor in November, he remains active in state politics.
Additionally, Kenyatta contested U.S. Sen. John Fetterman’s seat in the 2022 Democratic primary, but was not successful.
The DNC’s annual meeting will also include the election of a new chair, as current chair Jamie Harrison is not seeking reelection. Potential candidates for the chairmanship include former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, former Maryland U.S. Senate candidate Robert Houton, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.
Kenyatta will campaign for his vice chair position with the support of 448 voting members of the DNC.
