Phoenix Man Sentenced to 70 Months for Methamphetamine Distribution in Vermont

On Monday, January 6, 2025, Luis Angle Gerardo Urias, a 27-year-old Phoenix resident, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Christina Reiss in the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont. Urias had previously pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.

According to U.S. Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest and court documents, Urias was part of a drug distribution network that spanned from Arizona to Vermont, responsible for the distribution of over 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The investigation, led by agents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Investigations, revealed that Urias and his co-conspirators were involved in the shipment of methamphetamine to Vermont. Additionally, they distributed drugs to an undercover agent in Arizona and received drug proceeds in cash and money transfers from Vermont.

On March 15, 2023, federal agents executed a search warrant at Urias’s Phoenix residence. The search led to the seizure of two firearms— a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and an assault rifle— along with ammunition for both weapons.
