Authorities in DeKalb County, Alabama, report that two individuals and two dogs were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a home in Mentone.
DeKalb County Coroner Tom Wilson referred inquiries about the victims’ identities to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office when contacted on Tuesday.
The names of the deceased have not been disclosed, but a statement from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the deaths resulted from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to the sheriff’s office, DeKalb County 911 received a call on Friday from a man in Mentone reporting multiple fatalities at his residence. Mentone, a small town with around 325 residents, is located atop Lookout Mountain near Fort Payne, roughly 35 miles southwest of Chattanooga.
