Two arrested in connection with jordan drone strike that killed 3 U.S. Soldiers

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a drone strike in jordan on january 28 that killed three U.S. Soldiers from georgia. The justice department announced the arrests on monday, revealing that the men exported sensitive technology to iran, which was used in the attack.

The individuals arrested are mahdi mohammad sadeghi, a dual U.S./iranian citizen, and mohammad abedininajafabadi, an iranian national. Fbi specialists traced the drone’s navigation system to an iranian company operated by abedininajafabadi.

Sadeghi and abedininajafabadi are charged with conspiring to violate U.S. Export laws, which are designed to prevent sensitive technologies from reaching adversaries. Additionally, abedininajafabadi faces charges related to conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, leading to death.

U.S. Attorney joshua levy emphasized the real-world risks of american technology falling into the wrong hands, noting that this situation was not a hypothetical threat but a tragic reality. Officials have attributed the drone strike to the islamic resistance in iraq, a coalition of iran-backed militias that includes kataib hezbollah.

The attack claimed the lives of three U.S. Soldiers: sgt. William jerome rivers of carrollton, sgt. Breonna moffett of savannah, and sgt. Kennedy sanders of waycross, georgia. In addition to the fatalities, more than 40 other soldiers were injured in the attack.
