Two men from Pennsylvania have been sentenced for their roles in a major drug trafficking operation that distributed cocaine across Western Pennsylvania and Youngstown, Ohio.
Sentencing Details
Luciano Bratini Rivera (37): Sentenced to 97 months in prison and four years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine and multiple counts of cocaine distribution.
Markus Hobel (35): Sentenced to 72 months in prison and five years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute cocaine and carrying a firearm to support the drug trafficking operation.
The Drug Operation
Both men were part of a group of 17 people indicted in March 2024 for violations involving drugs, firearms, and racketeering. Rivera worked closely with the operation’s leader, Daniel Feliciano, to transport large quantities of cocaine from Puerto Rico. Rivera distributed these drugs to others, including Hobel, for sale in New Castle, Ellwood City, and across Lawrence County.
Evidence revealed Rivera handled at least five kilograms of cocaine and managed over $11,000 in drug money seized during his arrest. He also traveled to Philadelphia multiple times to exchange cash for more cocaine, retrieving six kilograms between late 2023 and early 2024.
Hobel, serving as Feliciano’s bodyguard, carried weapons to protect the group’s drugs, money, and members. He patrolled Feliciano’s property with firearms, including a pistol and rifle, to safeguard their operations.
Investigation and Prosecution
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Lawrence County HIDTA Drug Task Force, with help from local, state, and federal agencies, including the Postal Inspection Service, FBI, and local police departments.
“This case highlights our dedication to breaking down dangerous drug networks and keeping our communities safe,” said U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan.
The sentences and investigation reflect ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety.
