Wyoming’s Public Defender Office Faces Staff Shortage, Cuts Misdemeanor Defense

Central Kentucky is bracing for another round of winter weather, with snow and frigid temperatures expected this weekend. Fayette County and neighboring regions could see 1 to 3 inches of snow on Sunday, with Eastern Kentucky anticipating up to 5 inches in some areas. A winter weather advisory has been issued from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, warning of slippery roads, low visibility, and breezy winds of 15-25 mph. Snowfall will be heaviest between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., tapering off by evening.

Following the snow, arctic air will settle in, with Monday’s high in Lexington expected to be just 15 degrees, accompanied by wind chills as low as -8 degrees. A cold weather advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday, and highs will remain in the low 20s on Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather will start to warm later in the week, with highs climbing into the 30s.

City crews have been busy de-icing streets in preparation, and Lexington’s snow removal updates can be found at lexingtonky.gov/snow. Be sure to stay informed on any delays or closings by checking the city’s website.
